Thursday, February 4th, 2010

Coby Electronics – just in case you don’t know, this electronics company that started at New York, USA has expanded its reach all the way to Canada, Mexico, Latin America, as well as Hong Kong. And there is very good reason why they were able to. When it comes to electronics, taking your personal entertainment experience to the next levels, etc. Coby Electronics is a force to be reckoned with.

$12.77
LCD TVs, digital photo frames, portable DVDs, MP4 Players – these are the stable components of Coby’s product line. HOWEVER, lately, Coby was seen penetrating the market for noise canceling and noise isolating ear buds. And guess what? They penetrated that market with style! For those of you who don’t know it, Coby Noise Canceling Isolation Ear Buds have been warmly accepted by music and entertainment lovers all over the globe.

What’s inside Coby CVE196 Noise Canceling Isolation Ear Buds? What made it stand up from the rest of the pack? Let’s take a closer look at these noise canceling ear buds that have taken the world by storm.

Eliminating Background Noises
No matter where you are and what media you are using (MP3 players, CD and DVD players, etc.) listening to music will NOT be as perfect as you want it to be, thanks to background noises that interfere with the music you are listening to. That is especially true if you are on the go – long travels through subways, trains, and planes.

And the minds and engineers behind Coby CVE196 Noise Canceling Isolation Ear Buds understand this. With an active noise cancellation system that has been designed to minimize background noise, listening through Coby CVE196 Noise Canceling Isolation Ear Buds assures you that every note and beat of the song is reproduced perfectly.

PLUS, with an in ear isolation design that has been installed to block off all sorts of background noise, listening to audio and personal entertainment will never be the same again.

Taking Listening To Audio To The Next Level

$21.24

Programmed to pump out professional quality digital sound combined with powerful samarium cobalt drivers that give you that deep bass response, the Coby CVE196 Noise Canceling Isolation Ear Buds will take portable entertainment to an unprecedented level.

PLUS, everything you need to start enjoying your audio or music is included in the package. A gold plated 3.5mm stereo plug, the AAA battery, a carrying pouch, a dual plug adapter (which is perfect for those who are traveling through planes), and the manufacturer’s warranty –you can take the Coby CVE196 Noise Canceling Isolation Ear Buds from its box and use it right away.

One Minor Quibble
Well, the Coby CVE196 Noise Canceling Isolation Ear Buds would’ve been perfect if only for one thing – they are built not as well as I want it to be. I think this is a problem in all of Coby’s products. My Coby CV 190 head phones – one of them broke off the first time I used them.

My Coby CVE196 Noise Canceling Isolation Ear Buds feels feeble and easily breakable. The sound quality is great and it does everything that they are supposed to, BUT they need extra care when being handled.

Scosche Noise Canceling Earbuds

Wednesday, February 3rd, 2010

Has the power to actively eliminate well over 75 percent of unwanted noise thanks to its noise cancelation technology, comes with its guns blazing and boasting 3 comfort fit silicone inserts, has a convenient in line control hub houses, noise cancelation circuitry, an AAA battery, an iPhone adapter, airplane adapter, and a carrying case – you are looking at the Scosche HP6NC Noise Canceling Ear Buds.

If you are on the hunt for the piece of gadget or gizmo that will take you personal listening sessions and entertainment to the next level by wiping out a good portion of unwanted noise and improving sound quality, then the Scosche Noise Canceling Earbuds are yours for the taking.

$40.99
A Closer Look At The Scosche HP6NC Noise Canceling Ear Buds
As for the ear piece, the Scosche HP6NC Noise Canceling Ear Buds are very comfortable. I didn’t have any problems with it, BUT let me tell you this – the noise canceling feature and power of this set of ear buds cannot rival that of a Bose headset. Don’t buy this headset and think that you will experience total silence. No, that is kidding yourself.

I have traveled on a Super 80, B 767, as well as a 757 after I have purchased my own Scosche HP6NC Noise Canceling Ear Buds. The sound clarity is great BUT I think you cannot classify the Scosche ear buds as noise canceling. In my opinion, noise reducing would be a better and more honest label.

The active noise cancelation feature works perfectly with specific types of sound frequencies. When I used them on travel, on all 6 occasions, I noticed a considerable reduction of the higher pitched whine that the jet engine makes. As for the lower hum, it wasn’t eliminated. It’s still there BUT it is not as bothersome as the other noise that the plane makes.

And another nice thing is that it comes with an airplane adaptor. The Scosche HP6NC Noise Canceling Ear Buds is really a must have for frequent flyers like me. I use the adaptor to muffle the plane noise by switching the noise cancelation unit on BUT without playing any music. I have also noticed that it can significantly reduce road noise while on my wheels.

Overall, the sound quality is fine and above average, although at times, it comes off as a bit muddy. The fact that it has a separate volume control which is located on the electronics unit at the middle of the cord is also a nice feature. The ear buds also continue to work even if you remove the noise cancelation battery or even if it is out of power.

Bottom line – the Scosche HP6NC Noise Canceling Ear Buds is a good buy! It will give you a lot of bang for your buck.

Shure Noise Canceling Earbuds

Tuesday, February 2nd, 2010

$73.98
Shure – just in case you don’t know, this is one company that has been chosen by one of the world’s most popular review sites – CNET, as their electronics brand and manufacturer for audio and video testing. And rightly so!

Shure’s noise canceling ear buds – the E4c, immediately became one of the top favorites when it comes to head phones for MP3 players. The whole E series is impressive, and it’s NOT very surprising that the company didn’t move far from this blue print when they created a brand new sound and noise canceling line up of head phones – the SE series.

One that impressed me the most from this line up of Shure noise canceling earbuds is the SE530 – a $500 pair of head phones which is impressive like its predecessor which is the Shure E500PTH noise canceling ear buds.

A Quick Look
Very little about the Shure SE530 noise canceling ear buds would inspire complaint. HOWEVER, there is one thing I am not very keen about when it comes to these ear buds – they are rather large and they would stick out of your ear a bit. But that is insignificant when you realize that such size for ear buds are necessary for the 3 drivers – every bud comes with the Triple Acoustic Micro Speaker. Each of these comes with 2 woofers as well as a tweeter.

True, the ear buds could protrude from your ears, you shouldn’t have any problems getting the correct and sealed fit. Along with that, Shure comes with different ear tips – it comes with 3 different sizes (Small, Medium, and Large) for the silicone sleeves, a set of triple flange fittings, and last BUT not the least (this is my favorite by the way) – it comes with black and molded foam tips that also comes in different sizes.

Stellar Sound Quality
With a price of $500, the real meat of the Shure SE530 noise canceling ear buds comes down to the sound quality it delivers. And guess what – it lived up to the expectations. The sound quality is stellar and makes every penny of the lofty price point worth it. Matter of fact, when I’m listening to my favorite songs to it, I would have to fight off the urge to desk dance!

The sound from Shure SE530 is fantastic – PERIOD! For those of you who are thinking what is it that the Shure SE530 has, get this – it comes with buds that deliver excellent passive noise isolation power. The better fit you get with the ear buds, the better sound quality you will get. And with myriads of fittings available for different ear sizes, this shouldn’t be much of a problem.

Moreover, the seal of the ear buds also offer deep as well as tight bass response – it envelopes your ear without being too overwhelming. Not to mention there is no distortion. The high notes are amazingly sparkling, the music (every note and every beat) are delivered with unbelievable quality. I could spend thousands of words describing how great my personal listening sessions are with the Shure SE530 noise canceling ear buds, BUT it won’t be enough.

While it’s true that it cannot deliver the sound you would get from full sized headphones or external speakers. BUT if you are looking for the next big thing without wrapping your face with huge head phones, then the Shure SE530 noise canceling ear buds are yours for the taking!

Sony Noise Canceling Earbuds

Monday, February 1st, 2010

$49.00
When it comes to noise canceling ear buds or anything about audio and video entertainment, Sony is one of the best companies and manufacturers out there. Sony noise canceling earbuds alone have been doing very well for the last 8 years.

That explains why my expectations are high and I was giddy like a school girl when the Sony MDR-NC22 Noise Canceling Ear Buds were released. I immediately got me and my brother a set of these noise canceling ear buds and my verdict? These are great and lived up to my expectations.

$64.68
The Fit And Finish
The very first thing that got my attention is that the Sony MDR-NC22 Noise Canceling Ear Buds are very nicely finished. They come in 3 head turning colors – black, white, as well as pink. The unit I got was white and it comes with a perfect blend of opalescent as well as matte finish applied to the noise canceling unit. Along with that, the control unit is pleasantly small and comes with a good and easy to use on and off switch, shirt clip, as well as a monitor button to keep everything under control.

The Performance Of The Sony MDR-NC22 Noise Canceling Ear Buds
You may have the best looking noise canceling ear buds BUT if they don’t deliver, all of those good looks have gone to waste. Fortunately, the Sony MDR-NC22 Noise Canceling Ear Buds perform as good as they look. The first time I plugged and flipped them on, I was impressed right away. I was at the airport lounge when I first used these noise canceling ear buds.

$49.24
Initially, I thought they won’t live up to my high expectations since they don’t seal as nicely as my previous noise canceling ear buds – the NC10. And as we all know, when it comes to passive noise canceling, it all boils down on how good they fit on your ear. HOWEVER, it wasn’t long before I realized that the noise canceling power of these ear buds are so much better than the previous models. It’s much more aggressive than the old ones and this resulted to an overall better effect.

The hum from the air, the endless chatter from the TV, and everything in between – all of these noises disappeared as soon as I put the Sony MDR-NC22 Noise Canceling Ear Buds on.

The sound quality that the Sony MDR-NC22 Noise Canceling Ear Buds deliver is as good as the NC10’s. Just in case you don’t know, the NC10 noise canceling ear buds deliver amazing sound quality and it is at par with my tried, tested, but old MDR V6 studio monitors. Along with that, the monitor button also works better than the NC10 and the sound that the Sony MDR-NC22 Noise Canceling Ear Buds produce better imitates the sound you would hear without the head phones on.

The only thing I haven’t tested so far is the battery life. HOWEVER, looking at the specs, which is very much identical to the NC10’s (PLUS with a lot of improvements), I can say that the Sony MDR-NC22 Noise Canceling Ear Buds would have amazing longevity too.

The Sony MDR-NC22 Noise Canceling Ear Buds – they’re a fine addition to Sony’s line up of noise canceling ear buds and they deserve to be in your shelf, too!

$33.14
Wicked Black Little Buds Noise Canceling Ear Buds – My Experience

After going through different pairs of ear buds every month (you see, I’m a huge music lover and a frequent flyer who loves listening to songs while on travel), I have found a pair of ear buds – the Wicked Black Little Buds, which are worth every penny spent on them. Skull Candy, Koss, Sony – name it and there is a great chance that I have used it. And here’s what – all of them are huge disappointments.

I grabbed these wicked ear buds at an Atlanta airport for my laptop. The store was only selling these and Skull Candy. Having bad experience with Skull Candy noise canceling ear buds, not surprisingly, I settled for the former – they are cheaper and the name is, well, WICKED!

$35.09

When I first tried them out of the store, I was seriously impressed. These babies pump out great and very clear sound – filtering out the ambient noises that will get in the way of your personal listening experience. The Nylon cord is a huge plus. Unlike other cords from other noise canceling ear buds, you won’t get any of the crappy friction noise from the cord rubbing on your shirt. Not to mention it’s very durable and it doesn’t shorten within the first couple of outings with it.

$9.24
With Skull Candy and Sony noise canceling ear buds, I didn’t get these sort of nylon cords and the sound quality is not as good as I want it to be.

When I plugged them into my iPod to listen to music on a plane to Italy, I was NOT just impressed – I was blown away! The background noises – they’re all gone! The sound quality is easily comparable to the Bose QC2 head phones. Once I thought ear buds cannot rival the sound quality that the top head phones could deliver. The Wicked Black Little Buds Noise Canceling Ear Buds proved me wrong!

Overall, the Wicked Black Little Buds Noise Canceling Ear Buds are amazing. They are must haves if you are someone who loves music without being bugged by the surrounding’s noise especially while on the go.

For well over 60 long years, the name and brand Sennheiser has been synonymous to top quality electronic products as well as customized or tailor made and complete solutions that can take good care of recording transmission, and nearly perfect reproduction of sound.

$54.99
With digital music and sound fidelity technology always on the advance, I’m pretty sure a good portion of the music lovers out there won’t be using the headphones that came with their portable MP3, CD, and DVD player. Why? Simply because there is a sure fire way to get the best possible sound – and that is by grabbing a Sennheiser noise cancelation earbuds and head phones. It’s of little wonder why the Sennheiser PXC 250 noise canceling ear buds are a top choice by many sound and music lovers.

PLUS, with the headphones being foldable and coming with a convenient belt pouch, the Sennheiser PXC 250 noise canceling ear buds make up a nice companion especially for those music lovers on the go.

$31.99
Our First Encounter

I encountered the Sennheiser PXC 250 for the first time when I visited a local music and electronics store. I was at the market for a good pair of head phones that I can take and use on a plane. I won’t go around in circles – the Sennheiser PXC 250 noise canceling ear buds exceeded my expectations!

Now, if you are on the hunt for the ear phones that you could use in an office desk, this is not for you. The price is a little steep for an office head phone and you can grab one that would work well for that purpose at half the price. Go for something that gas closed cups and those that have passive noise reduction features if your office is noisy.

Back to the Sennheiser PXC 250 noise canceling ear buds, I played a movie with it and a personal and portable DVD player. The volume was somewhere between 5 or 6 notches. And after watching several movies, I was pleased that the sound effects as well as the speech are all clear and easily heard. Back then, I was using a 10 dollar set of head phones and I had to turn of the volume all the way to ten and I would still have a hard time understanding the dialogue.

To make it even sweeter, with the Sennheiser PXC 250 noise canceling ear buds, I was able to wear them without any problems and not even a slight trace of inconvenience for hours on the plane. The noise reduction features work so well that after wearing them for hours, you would easily get accustomed to them. Matter of fact, when I took them off, I couldn’t believe the difference!

The Bottom Line
If you are on the hunt for head phones that you can take with you while you are traveling on the plane, the Sennheiser PXC 250 noise canceling ear buds are your perfect buddies! Give it a shot and see it for yourself.

JVC Noise Canceling Earbuds

Wednesday, January 27th, 2010

$18.99
For many users of in ear head phones, passive noise isolation features through an effective seal with the ear is good enough. Matter of fact, some even the active noise cancellation and the inaudible filler that comes along with it to be a little irritating to the ear. HOWEVER, if you are someone who travels and flies all the time and wants a more significant quieting of the low frequency noise that interrupts you from the music you are listening to, then the JVC noise canceling earbuds are yours for the taking.

For a very reasonable price of $79.95 PLUS a super compact package, listening to music and watching videos through your iPhone or BlackBerry camera phone with the JVC HA-NCX77 becomes one of the most pleasant things you could experience.

$18.99
The JVC HA-NCX77 Noise Cancellation Ear Buds In A Nutshell
The Good Side–what’s nice about the JVC HA-NCX77 noise cancellation ear buds is that it offers an impressive bass response compared to other popular and expensive ear buds in the market. Along with that, the noise canceling unit is also beefed up with a built in clip for extra convenience. The buds themselves are inexpensive (easily replaceable) and it comes with a lot of handy extras.

A sturdy and flexible case, an airplane plug adapter – these are just some of the niceties included in the JVC HA-NCX77 noise cancellation ear buds package.

A Closer Look At The Noise Cancellation Ear Buds
When it comes down to the ear buds themselves, the JVC HA-NCX77 noise cancellation ear buds are not that compact. Why? Here’s why – in order to incorporate active noise cancellation, the manufacturers of this noise cancellation ear buds have to attach a box to the cable that can take a battery while allowing you to turn the feature on and off.

$18.99
Sad to say, there’s no way you could detach the unit from the headphone cable. You cannot get rid of the box. HOWEVER, this shortcoming is very minor. You see, the box is ‘round about the size of an MP3 flash player – PLUS it also incorporates battery compartment as well as a handy bet clip behind it, a power switch on the side coupled with a volume know, and a monitor switch on the front.

YES, the box has pretty much all of the components of the ear bud set and at a size that isn’t very obtrusive.
